Celebrating Local Election Successes

Liberal Democrats Celebrating after Local Elections

Thanks again to all our members, volunteers, and candidates. Sadly no borough council gains to report this time, but we are still very happy with a strong set of results.

Well done to John Morrisey who secured 28% of the vote in Belper East, which is +19% on last year’s result, a credit to all involved!

Kate Smith got 2nd place in Crich. With 25% of the vote this is +13% since this seat was last up in 2015. It’s in large testament to her work on Crich Parish Council, so we’re happy she was also re-elected unopposed as parish councillor.

We are also happy to report the election of six Lib-Dem parish councillors to Duffield Parish Council, all of whom look forward to working hard for Duffield over the coming years.

Now as a party we have to turn our attentions to the European elections on May 23rd, continuing our message that a vote for the Lib Dems is a vote to stop brexit, and campaigning for a Liberal Democrat MEP to represent the East Midlands.
